The Refuge
on Roanoke Island
From the West (Mainland):
Take 64 East on over to Roanoke Island. You will enter the island by way of the Virginia Dare Bridge. When you get to the end of the bridge you will see a large intersection, the first stop light that you come to. Take a right at this intersection onto Hwy 345, and make your way towards Wanchese. Continue to follow this road for about 3 miles. We are on the left as you enter the village. (If you pass Orman's Red and White you have gone too far, we are located directly beside this store.)
From the Northern Beaches:
Head south on Bypass 158 heading towards Manteo and Roanoke Island. You will enter the island from the Washington Baum Bridge. You will keep going straight through the first stoplight (located at the entrance of Pirates Cove) and continue to the island's second stoplight. Here you will take a left at the intersection onto Hwy 345, and be heading towards Wanchese. (If you pass the Visitors Center you have gone too far). Continue to follow this road for about 3 miles. We are on the left as you enter the village.
From the Southern Beaches:
Head North on Highway 12. Follow this road until you get to the "Whalebone Intersection." There will be two lights in a row you will turn left on both of these lights, bringing you onto 64 West. Follow 64 West towards Manteo and Roanoke Island. You will enter the island from the Washington Baum Bridge. You will keep going straight through the island's first stoplight (located at the entrance of Pirates Cove) and continue to the island's second stoplight. Here you will take a left at the intersection and be heading towards Wanchese on Hwy 345. Continue to follow this road for about 3 miles. We are on the left as you enter the village.
